We are always trying to upgrade our cottages so they stay fresh-looking, with all the modern conveniences of home, whilst maintaining a simple, Cornish-country feel for our visitors.
This year it was Clover’s term for a pep and at 11am on Friday 23rd March, with the loo still in the plumber’s van and a deadline we couldn’t miss, it was all go to get the cottage up to scratch for our Easter guests on Saturday 24th March! Little Clover Cottage was awash with the plumber, carpenter, together with the Tregolls “dream-team” of Jo, Angela and Marilyn, all working to make it lovely for our Easter guests.
The bathroom suite had been chosen carefully to keep a clean and simple finish, but we also wanted to give a touch of luxury, so splashed out on some waterfall taps on the vanity unit and a large and lovely rain-fall showerhead over the bath. Although it’s lovely to have a steaming hot bath with bubbles, a few lit tea-lights and a glass of wine on the side, it’s a practical solution to sandy children, coming in from the beach, or just to have a quick wash before going out to a country pub or maybe for a fish supper in Padstow.
Things were going to plan with some great team-work, when our eagle-eyes noticed the single mattress was not up to the usual standards. Not happy to risk a guest having a restless night’s sleep, we got straight on the phone to a great local company, Rosevears of Bugle, who within three hours had delivered a comfy new mattress. After passing inspection, it was on and made in minutes – PHEW!
Our lovely guests’ first comments on arrival were “Love the Bathroom!” so, with some relief, we agreed it was all definitely worth it!
