Scenic train rides and fresh-caught fish
As a working farmer, we don't often get a day off as there’s always something that needs doing. Although Lester loves farming, it’s lovely to get some time off occasionally to do all the things our visitors enjoy.
We’ve been really busy, recently, harvesting the winter corn and getting the straw baled and stored safely in the big barn – it’s exhausting, but once it’s done that’s when we can get out and enjoy a bit of Cornwall.
Yesterday, with all the work done, Lester and I set off on a beautiful, sunny day for St Erth, parked the car and took the scenic, leisurely train ride along the coast to St Ives. It’s arguably one of the most stunning stretches of train line you are likely to encounter in the UK, so on this glorious day, it was breath-taking.
St Ives is always a bustling harbour-town in the Summer, with lots of visitors flocking to enjoy it’s quaint streets, and boutique shops. Of course, a trip to St Ives would not be complete without a delicious Kelly’s ice cream, sitting next to the RNLI, a mooch around the shops and all polished off with freshly-caught cod with chips.
All highly recommended!!
