Who Makes the Best Cornish Pasty?
Forget the Oscars, the Baftas and the Golden Globes!
Here in Cornwall we have something bigger – much bigger than those!! Make way for the World Pasty Championship!!
With around 200 contenders for a variety of awards for professionals, amateurs and children too, all competing for the coveted Oggy Oscars at the Eden Project. This year’s Competition on Saturday 4th March 2017 was the 6th such annual event, and had competitors from across the globe. Winners came from near and far, from double champion Cornish Premier Pasties at nearby St Columb Major to as far away as Canada, when the Piskie Pie Company from Ontario, Canada excelled in the Cornish Pasty Professional category.
But, do we have to now travel to Canada for delicious Cornish treat? Not likely! There’s a pasty shop around virtually every corner, well-known names, such as Malcolm Barnecutt and Warren’s to some very special niche shops like Aunt Avice’s Pasty Shop at St Kew Highway or Sarah’s in Looe.
We’ve been trying to decide whose pasties we prefer and, not surprisingly, we’re struggling to find an answer as everyone has a different opinion.
So, please let us know where your favourite pasty shop is and help us decide our top 5 favourite pasty shops in Cornwall!
If you are on Facebook or Twitter just type the name of the shop you would like to vote for - give them a bit of a shout-out! - and we'll post our results next week.
