Steps into History & Myth - Part 2 St Nectan's Glen
A mystical valley of lush woodland and winding pathways, close to Tintagel.
Follow in the footprints of thousands of pilgrims over the centuries, be they pagan, Christian or some other spiritual calling. All lead to the stunning waterfall of St Nectan’s Glen. Those who come here seem compelled to build mini-tors in memory of those lost or for prayers of hopes to come, others leave strips of colourful ribbons tied to the trees, or push old coins into the wooden trunks, which look like crocodiles with copper scaled-backs.
If this blog sounds over-poetic, that is the St Nectan’s Glen- effect! It takes your breath away with its tantalising feeling that here is a special and magical place!
Back up the hillside, is a simple café with delicious coffees and cakes to boost your energy levels before the trek back to the car park.
Any time of year, St Nectan’s is a must-visit. In the winter/spring months the peace of the place can really be appreciated, and if you are looking for a romantic place for a Valentine proclamation – there’s nowhere more appropriate!
Limited availability at Tregolls Farm cottages for February half term.
