Walk in the Saints' Way - DAY ONE

We have had many visitors passing through as they take on the Saints Way, an ancient pilgrim route from Padstow to Fowey, north to south coasts, with everything in between! Walked over two or three days – it can be an exhausting challenge, or a really satisfying and enjoyable experience! Either way Tregolls can be part of your journey.

Here’s a 3-part blow by blow account of how to walk the Saints Way without having to go through the expense of going through a Walking Holiday company. With thanks to our visitors for their photos of the journey.

Having had a relaxing evening and night’s rest at Tregolls Farm B&B or holiday cottages, rise bright and early and drive to Padstow to start your first day’s walk. If you want help with the logistics just ask Marilyn in advance of your stay and she will help you find the most convenient way.

Set of from Padstow Parish Church and walk through the pretty streets (don’t look in the window of the Delicatessen on the corner or you may never get any further!! You will find this is one of the most challenging parts of a medium level walk: You will climb out of Padstow, avoiding the crowded streets and Camel Trail to hike up into the fields above, where the views of the estuary are stunning! Dropping down to pretty creeks through leafy woods it’s a picture! Our visitors didn’t meet another soul on their first day walking!

Our visitors took a packed lunch and enjoyed a well-deserved picnic enroute – there’s also a lovely cold pint to be had at The Journeyman along the way! Just over the A39 you may well see a sign to Tregolls – That would be cheating! Keep to the Saints Way following the road and you will eventually get to Tregolls, just a matter of yards from the route.

Now relax, put your feet up, have a bath or whatever, but we suggest an early night before DAY 2 begins!
