10 Free Things to Do During Your Cornwall Holiday

One of the best things about Cornwall is that some of its most memorable experiences don’t cost a thing.

From spectacular beaches and coastal walks to charming harbour towns and family-friendly adventures, there are plenty of ways to enjoy Cornwall without stretching your holiday budget.

If you’re staying at Tregolls Farm, here are ten free things we’d recommend adding to your itinerary.

1. Walk the South West Coast Path

Cornwall’s coastline is home to some of the UK’s most spectacular walking routes.

Whether you’re looking for a gentle stroll or a longer hike, you’ll find incredible sea views, hidden coves and plenty of places to stop for a picnic along the way.

Some of our favourite sections include:

  • Polzeath to Daymer Bay
  • Padstow to Stepper Point
  • Bedruthan Steps

2. Spend the Day at the Beach

Some of Cornwall’s best beaches are just a short drive from Tregolls.

Pack a picnic, bring a bucket and spade, or simply enjoy a walk along the sand.

Our favourites include:

  • Polzeath
  • Daymer Bay
  • Constantine Bay
  • Harlyn Bay
  • Trevone Bay

Even if the weather isn’t warm enough for swimming, they’re beautiful places to explore.

3. Join a Saturday Parkrun

If you’re staying with us over a weekend, why not start your Saturday with a free 5k parkrun?

Both the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan host parkruns every Saturday at 9am. As an added bonus, participants receive free entry to the gardens afterwards, making it a fantastic way to spend the day.

Just remember to register with parkrun before you arrive.

4. Explore Padstow

Padstow is one of Cornwall’s best-loved harbour towns, and wandering its narrow streets doesn’t cost a thing.

Watch the fishing boats, browse the independent shops, enjoy the harbour views and, if you fancy treating yourself, stop for an ice cream or a Cornish pasty.

It’s around a 20-minute drive from Tregolls.

5. Cycle or Walk the Camel Trail

Stretching between Padstow, Wadebridge and Bodmin, the Camel Trail is one of Cornwall’s most popular routes.

Walking is completely free, and if you’d like to explore further, bike hire is available in Wadebridge.

The trail follows the River Camel, offering beautiful scenery and plenty of wildlife along the way.

6. Visit Port Isaac

Known to many as the home of Doc Martin, Port Isaac is a lovely place to spend a few hours.

Wander through its winding streets, take in the harbour views and enjoy one of Cornwall’s prettiest fishing villages.

7. Watch the Sunset

Sometimes the simplest moments are the most memorable.

8. Explore Bodmin Moor

For wide open landscapes, granite tors and peaceful walks, Bodmin Moor is well worth a visit.

It’s a completely different side of Cornwall and perfect if you’re looking to escape the busier coastal spots.

9. Discover Wadebridge

Just 10 minutes from Tregolls, Wadebridge is a lovely market town with independent shops, cafés and easy access to the Camel Trail.

It’s the perfect place for a relaxed morning or afternoon.

10. Enjoy the Countryside at Tregolls

Some of our guests’ favourite moments happen without ever leaving the farm.

Watching the lambs in the fields, listening to the birds in the morning, enjoying a cream tea outside your cottage or simply sitting with a cup of tea and taking in the view are all part of what makes staying at Tregolls so special.

Sometimes, doing nothing at all is the best part of a Cornwall holiday.
