Best Family Beaches in North Cornwall

Cornwall is full of beautiful beaches, but if you’re visiting with little ones, some are definitely easier than others. Whether you’re looking for somewhere to paddle, build sandcastles, surf or just spend the day by the sea, there are plenty of family-friendly beaches within easy reach of Tregolls Farm.

Here are a few of our favourites in North Cornwall.

🌊 Polzeath Beach

Around 20–25 minutes from Tregolls Farm, Polzeath is one of the most popular family beaches in North Cornwall, and for good reason.

There’s a huge stretch of sand at low tide, plenty of space for children to play and the waves are great for beginner surfers and bodyboarders. You’ll also find cafés, shops and places to grab an ice cream nearby, which always makes beach days easier with kids.

It’s a lovely all-round beach if you want a full day by the sea.

🌊 Daymer Bay

Just around the corner from Polzeath, Daymer Bay has a much calmer feel and is ideal for families with younger children.

The water is usually gentler here, making it a good spot for paddling and swimming, and the sandy beach gives little ones loads of room to run around. It’s also a great place for a picnic and tends to feel a bit more relaxed than some of the busier surfing beaches.

🌊 Rock Beach

Rock is another favourite with families and is only around 25 minutes away.

You can spend the day crabbing, paddling or watching the boats on the estuary, and there are some lovely walks nearby too. At low tide, there’s loads of sand for children to play on, and it’s a great beach if you prefer calmer water over bigger waves.

You can also catch the ferry across to Padstow, which kids always love.

🌊 Harlyn Bay

Harlyn Bay is a brilliant family beach, especially if you’ve got children who enjoy the water.

The beach is known for being a bit more sheltered, making it popular for swimming and beginner surfing lessons. There’s plenty of space, good facilities nearby and it’s an easy beach to spend a whole afternoon at.

🌊 Constantine Bay

If your family enjoys walks as much as beach days, Constantine Bay is well worth visiting.

The beach itself is beautiful, and you’ve also got easy access to the South West Coast Path, so it’s perfect if you want to mix a beach day with a proper coastal walk.

🌿 Why Families Love Staying at Tregolls Farm

One of the nicest things about staying at Tregolls Farm is that you can enjoy busy beach days, then come back to somewhere peaceful in the countryside.

After a day in the sea, kids can still run around the farm, visit the animals or spend time feeding the lambs and baby goats with Farmer Lester. It gives families a nice balance between exploring Cornwall and slowing things down a bit.
